True Health Diagnostics Announces New Partnerships with Insurers to Help Lower Costs for Chronic Disease Identification and Management

FRISCO, Texas, December 19, 2016 – True Health Diagnostics has developed an offering intended to bring its best-in-class, innovative disease management solutions to more people through its partnerships with major health insurers, the company announced today.

“We’ve built a model that makes our leading-edge diagnostics available and affordable to payers, employers and hospital systems,” said Chris Grottenthaler, CEO of True Health. “Our goal is to transform health care into a ‘patient-first’ model that identifies diseases earlier than previously thought possible, giving patients the time needed to make lifestyle adjustments to get better and live longer lives.”

Grottenthaler noted that laboratory work that has traditionally been performed has not provided sufficient information, soon enough, for patients and payers to be able to prevent the exorbitant costs of surgical procedures or chronic illness. The cost of treating major diseases continues to escalate.

Researchers at the Milken Institute wrote that “the growing burden of chronic diseases adds significantly” to rising health care costs, predicting a 42 percent increase in chronic disease cases by 2023, according to a report cited by Aetna®.

Cardiovascular disease now costs the health care system nearly $1 billion each day, according to the CDC Foundation. Nearly one out of every three dollars paid by Medicare goes toward treating diabetes, the American Diabetes Association reports. Yet the dollars being spent don’t appear to be effective: A report last week by the Centers for Disease Control indicated that an increase in heart disease deaths had driven up the country’s mortality rate in 2015.

Several regional Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliates have recently added True Health to their networks. True Health, headquartered in Texas, recently joined the network of the state’s largest health insurer, which covers employees at well-known state and national employers, including American Airlines, Texas Instruments, Halliburton, JBS, the Texas A&M System, Texas Medical Association and The University of Texas System.

True Health is nearing in-contract agreements with several, major national health insurers. True Health is offering its world-class diagnostics, aimed at disease detection and prevention, at below Medicare rates in order to reach as many employers and patients as possible.

“Quality diagnostic information can change a person’s life,” said Grottenthaler. “Our aim is to make it easy on insurers, doctors and patients to work with us, to give them insights into patients’ health early enough to make a difference. We’ll work with whoever we need to in the health care system to make it convenient and affordable.”

“People who understand how Americans engage with healthcare know that proximity to services is a key driver of patient behavior. True Health Diagnostics is committed to bringing its science and expertise to communities across the country. Our best-in-class services can help keep patients healthy at less expense to a hospital than maintaining a lab of similar quality on its own – and only True Health can identify the unique signatures of disease states as early as we are able,” said Grottenthaler.
