Position Overview:

The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for assisting with and facilitating technical procedures, facilitating testing workflow and providing lab testing support. Must be able to work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule either 11am to 7:30pm or 7am-3:30pm.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum education includes High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Position requires computer proficiency

  • Verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Educational background in chemical or biological sciences is helpful
  • Medical laboratory experience is preferred

Essential Functions/Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Prints bar-coded labels and affixes to tubes for specimen testing and storage
  • Aliquots, stores, and retrieves patient specimens using sample tracking programs
  • Inventories laboratory reagents and consumables
  • Monitors temperature and equipment function as needed
  • Accessions patient specimens according to True Health Diagnostics protocols, with strict adherence to our Quality Assurance standards as needed
  • Adheres to True Health Diagnostics Health and Safety guidelines for the protection of each individual working in the laboratory; training is provided annually and review is provided as needed during staff and team meetings
  • Pulls Work in Progress lists to find pending samples
  • Pulls pending samples and place in appropriate instrument/bench racks
  • Moves samples from testing platforms as directed by area leadership
  • Removes and racks completed samples from instruments/testing platforms and restages into appropriate sample storage racks
  • Adhere to and uphold all applicable federal and state compliance regulations as well as True Health’s Code of Conduct and Ethical Responsibility, compliance policies and procedures, and applicable healthcare fraud, waste and abuse laws.

Work Environment:

OSHA RISK FACTOR CATEGORY 1. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and work with a computer. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The employee is required to perform repetitive motions, including reaching above the head, and typing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Color-blindness testing is required for those with job-specific duties requiring color discrimination.
